The World is Asking You to Wake Up

Today is the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. In Latin, solstice means "sun standing still," which references the sun's place in the galaxy on this day.

The Summer Solstice has been celebrated since ancient times across cultures and continents and is one of the earliest astronomical observations in human history.

This day also has deep spiritual meanings. It is a return to the light. An awakening. Right now, the world is asking us to wake up. To rise up, look at how we live our lives, how we treat each other, how we’ve built systems that do not reflect light nor good, equality nor justice.

Yesterday was Juneteenth, an annual holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the US. With all the recent racial violence, this day has taken on even more importance and relevance.

Today, let us be reminded of what we can do within ourselves to wake up. To shine light on the darkness. The Summer Solstice is aligned with the element of fire, passion, will, and drive. This is the time to seek right action, to choose to walk in alignment with your beliefs.

Take a moment to look at your life and your spiritual path:

  • What is out of alignment?

  • What doesn't serve you?

  • What things do you tell yourself or others that are not in line with what you preach?

  • What things do you do that do not serve your personal or spiritual growth?

While there’s an urgency to act, nature is also asking us to slow down and be patient. Let the seeds we’ve planted germinate. Start something new from a place of truth. Act in quiet integrity. Seek to penetrate gently and steadily rather than forcibly and explosively. This way, whatever we put out into the world is built on solid foundation.

Wishing you light and love.
